ONLINE SPORTS - COLLEGE BASKETBALL — February 18
SAN DIEGO STATE at AIR FORCE
(Online Sports Odds: San Diego State -4.5, Total 120.5) — There’s a lot less faith in the Aztecs than there had been previously, a result of three losses in the last five games. If you break these down, however, you’ll see that one of them, against Colorado State, came after exhaustive travel, and the other two were to teams that will be going to the Big Dance (UNLV, New Mexico).
Michael Lyons gave the Falcons a boost the other night with 24 points against a Wyoming that tries to slow the pace (not a bad thing for Air Force) but couldn’t slow Lyons. Such a thing isn’t very likely against SDSU, as Steve Fisher’s defense will be designed to gang up on Lyons, and the Aztecs will make sure Air Force does not hit a lot from the perimeter (allowed one trey in EIGHTEEN attempts in last meeting). The Falcons had lost seven in a row AND gone through a coaching change before the victory at Laramie.

ONLINE SPORTS BETTING - BASKETBALL — February 11
UCONN at SYRACUSE
(Online Sports Betting Line: Syracuse -10, Total 131.5) — Syracuse has rebounded from its loss to now-hot Notre Dame by sweeping consecutive Big East games against Cincinnati, West Virginia, St. John’s and Georgetown. This is a team that has weathered a lot of distractions to elevate itself to a #1 position, and after being without center Fab Melo for three games (including that lone defeat), he has returned to block six shots against Georgetown on Wednesday. That’s still short of his season high of TEN against Seton Hall. UConn is a capable squad, but often an underachieving one, and that is exemplified by the play of heralded freshman Andre Drummond, who is a big factor only now and then. The last time these teams met, UConn was eliminating the Orange from last year’s Big East tourney. And if that isn’t enough to get Syracuse’s attention, there’s UConn’s win this past week against Louisville.

ONLINE SPORTS BETTING — February 8
LSU at VANDERBILT
(Line: Vandy -11, Total 133.5) — Vanderbilt may be feeling a little down on itself after turning the ball over seventeen times against Florida, and as they say, you live by the three and die by the three, and the ‘Dores not only made just eight of their 25 attempts, they also allowed the Gators to make eleven treys. We’ve now seen three losses in the last five games from them, and LSU likes to think that it has a blueprint to keep that offense off-balance. naturally, LSU was greatly outclassed against Kentucky in Baton Rouge, but other than that, if you notice, they can pretty much hold its own. Look at the win over Marquette, and just recently against Arkansas, and the very competitive effort against Virginia at home and against Mississippi State and even Florida on the road. Could center Justin Hamilton (27 points a couple of weeks ago vs. Florida) be an equalizer?

ONLINE SPORTS BETTING: BASKETBALL — February 7
TEXAS TECH at KANSAS STATE
(Online Sports Betting Line: Kansas State -18, Total 129.5) — Texas Tech’s covers have been few and far between, and that is a big concern. And with ten straight losses, you’d figure there would be some severe discouragement in Lubbock. However, the Raiders, after a streak where they shot below 40% for seven straight contests, they have found the rim a little easier in the last three. Coincidentally, they have covering two of those games, getting big points against Missouri and Texas. Now they’re getting a big impost again, and though they don’t have a very potent three-point arsenal, they don’t get out of control with those shots either.
Texas Tech is a team going nowhere during this rebuilding phase, and we are skeptical as to how intense the K-State effort is going to be. as it is, the Wildcats are 1-8 ATS in their last nine games as a home favorite.

ONLINE SPORTS - COLLEGE BASKETBALL — February 4
VIRGINIA at FLORIDA STATE
(Line: Florida State -5.5, Total 118.5) — Virginia is a team that likes to slow the pace down, and of course they play a strong brand of defense under coach Tony Bennett. But this is the kind of pace FSU is not going to mind all that much. The Seminoles should own the lane here, especially with seven-footer Assane Sene out of action for UVa, and that makes the Cavs more of a perimeter team than they probably intend to be. Leonard Hamilton’s team is on a hot streak, with six straight wins and covers, which includes victories over Duke and North Carolina. The bonus for Florida State is that they have been sinking a lot of shots from beyond the three-point line lately, and that is meaningful in this contest where points may be hard to come by.
